Mornington Peninsula Shire in Victoria, Australia is home to people with a diverse range of backgrounds and disability support needs. In January 2025, the Shire released an Easy Read version of their 'We All Belong' strategy, which highlights the way in which local council will meet the access and inclusion needs of people in the community.

You can download the accessible document created by Embrace Access here. All Easy Read by Embrace Access is tagged for assistive technology users including people who use screen readers to access the text and images. (All government departments in Australia are required to comply with accessibility legislation including the tagging of PDFs for screen reader accessibility to meet WCAG 2.2 guidelines and Level AA benchmarks.)

Clara Maruzzi, Community Partnerships Officer at the Shire, reflected on her work with Embrace Access, "Ruby has been fantastic and professional in every way! Working with her has been truly seamless. I would highly recommend Embrace Access as a reliable resource for Australian businesses who are dedicated to access and inclusion."

Embrace Access lived experience advisor points to communication strategy cards on a table
Grace is a local TAFE student who helped to develop the 'We All Belong' strategy. She is a lived experience advisor on the Embrace Access team. Her input is vital do the co-design of accessible and inclusive strategy documents in Easy Read.

If you'd like to create a strategy document in Easy Read for community members with low literacy, our project team can prepare Easy Read that has been co-designed by a person with lived experience of disability in just 5 business days. That's because timely access to accessible and alternative formats is a human right for people with communication disability and access needs.
